And as much as you love your partner, sometimes that’s not enough to fix a relationship or a problem. That’s exactly what happened to a woman on social media who shared her recent nightmare involving her in-laws. All she wanted was to show off her wedding gown, but it ended up turning into a horrible situation all around — especially for the groom. So, here’s what readers had to say.

And one might think this is a whole lotta drama over one dress — and it is, after all, something that was easily returnable for the bride, at least. And it wasn’t even a wedding gown. But actually, research on consumer behavior and social identity shows that clothing can work as a proxy for identity and self-expression. The dress wasn’t, for either of them, just a piece of fabric. It held much more emotional value because it represented both their celebrations and milestones.
